Tate McRae

Director and Creative Director of THINK LATER, a short film featuring three live performances and an intimate conversation with artist Tate McRae created in collaboration with VEVO in support of her breakthrough album of the same name.

Tate and her team tasked us with creating a liminal space to stage her performances; a space to represent this unique moment and pivotal stage of her career trajectory. As we were shooting in Los Angeles, I took my cues from Hollywood’s golden era of noir film making.

From the opening title sequence referencing the iconic masterpiece Sunset Boulevard, to the shadow play titles used in “Exes” as a nod to The Maltese Falcon right down to the 16mm film stock every detail was crafted to convey a sense of being on the cusp of stardom.
